Pack Healthy Snacks- The family with stable
blood sugar will have a much more stable vacation.
Ideas include bananas, apples, grapes, trail mix (Almonds,
sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, raisins), gluten-free cookies
& pretzels, nut Butter individual packages, "baby food" pouches
for the kids (the pouches filled with fruit or veggie puree), and
homemade muffins.
If you are on a road trip and have room for a cooler, pack meals
to include carrot and celery sticks with hummus and Applegate lunch
meat and cheese.
Make Water Your Friend - It is very easy to get
dehydrated while traveling, especially when you are out in the sun
more than your body is used to. Keep a refillable water bottle with
you, or stock your hotel refrigerator with bottles of water instead
of sodas. Take it with you in your backpack, diaper bag and in your
car.
Plan Ahead- Research family friendly
restaurants and their menus within your road trip and at your
destination. You may even want to research the local famers markets
in your destination.
